Teachers at a Crossroads

An online course for exploring career change

  • Are you wondering whether you have it in you to teach another year…or even another moment?

  • Are you curious about other careers outside the classroom and whether you might enjoy doing something else?

  • Would you like clarity about your next career steps?

This 10-week, live online course will empower you to approach the next chapter of your career with a focus on your own happiness and fulfillment.

No more sticking out teaching just because you don't know what else to do.

No more waffling back and forth between "stay or go."

You’ll discover exciting new career possibilities and take stock of what’s important to you, what you have to offer, and what brings you joy.

Whether you decide to remain in the classroom or start down an alternative career path, you'll get greater clarity about what you want, a better understanding of who you are, and increased confidence that you're pursuing work that is right for you.

Enrollment for the spring 2023 course is now closed.

This course is for you if:

1. You're not sure whether to leave the classroom or recommit to teaching, and you'd like to be able to make this decision with more clarity and confidence.

2. You know you want to leave teaching to pursue a different career path, but you don't know what you want to do instead.

You might be feeling:

Confused about what you want for your career. One day you feel the positive impact you’re making on your students' lives, and you can't imagine anything better. But the next day, you feel under-appreciated and over-worked and wonder why you're still doing this.

Disappointed that teaching might not actually be your forever job. You invested a lot of time and energy into training and growing as a teacher. Teaching has been your entire life, and it's a huge part of your identity. Was it all for nothing?

Stuck in the classroom with no good career alternatives. You can't imagine what else you could do with your skills and experiences. Your inner critic is loud and insistent that "You're not qualified for anything else!” You're surrounded by other teachers and feel a million miles away from different careers.

Afraid of change. The unknown of another career has you frozen in your tracks.

Looking up forest perspective.jpg

Guilty for even considering leaving your students. You're a good teacher, and you know the world needs strong teachers. You wonder if you should just set aside your own happiness for the “greater good.”

Totally lost about how to move forward. Your process of figuring out your career feels disorganized and unproductive and is comprised mostly of worrying and fretting about your future.

By the end of this course you will have...

about what you want for the next chapter of your career.

More joy in your work

by reconnecting with what makes you feel curious, interested, and excited.

Confidence in your skills and strengths

because you've identified

what they are and can see

how they relate to your work and other careers.

A growing network

of people

to help you widen your perspective, think through your career questions, and tap into new resources and ideas.

A personalized list of career alternatives

created with your own

values, strengths, and

interests in mind.

A plan

for how to seek more joy as

a teacher or how to leave the classroom for a career that's

a better fit for you.

"Laura’s course has totally transformed my mindset and way of thinking about my career. I’ve been teaching for 12 years and this course has helped me navigate my questions and uncertainties in ways I never could have done on my own. Her framework helped me figure out how my strengths and interests line up with other career possibilities. Now I’m navigating what’s next for me with confidence, because I know what I want and what I bring to the table."

Who's teaching the course?

Hi, I'm Laura! A career coach committed to helping educators reconnect with what brings them joy and find work they love.

I created this course for teachers because I kept hearing from my teacher clients, friends, and husband: “I don’t know if I want to teach much longer, and I definitely don't know what else I could do.”

This course is my version of shouting to the mountain tops, “There’s so MUCH you could do! You have so much to offer! If you’re not happy with your work, let’s do something about it!"

This course focuses on your happiness and fulfillment, because I want you to have work that makes you feel good.

You'll explore new career possibilities that align with what you want, what you care about, and what you have to offer. This can't be accomplished by simply looking at a generic list of "career alternatives for teachers" because you want work that's a good fit for you

At the end of this course, it will be clear to you whether you want to recommit to the classroom or pursue a different path, and you'll know what to do next to make it happen!

I built this course based on 10 years of helping my clients find the career clarity they need to make confident steps toward something better. I've also been an educator myself, creating meaningful learning experiences for others throughout most of my career.

What my coaching clients say about me...

"Laura can help you reconnect with why you're here on this planet at this time, and manifest something greater for your career path and your life."

"Laura is a joy to work with and just a wonderful human being to have cheering you on!"

"Laura was an excellent guide and made me feel comfortable and confident throughout my career exploration process."

"Leaving the classroom was a huge step for me. I was daunted by finding a job outside of a school and skeptical that I would. After working with Laura, I felt confident that I was pursuing opportunities based in truths about my personality, strengths, interests, and values. I saw more clearly what I had to offer and how my teaching experience could translate to other roles or industries."

What's included in the course?

The course is 10 weeks and runs March 21 - June 6. You will receive new content every other week (biweekly) to help you move through the course along with Laura and other participants.

However, you can also choose to go at your own pace.

Six modules (~15 pre-recorded lessons), teaching you the mindsets, strategies, and tools I've honed over ten years of career coaching. All content is downloadable and is available for 12 months after the start of the course.

Exercises, reflections, or prompts accompany every lesson and will keep you focused and engaged in meaningful ways. This is not busy work! The work is designed to help you go deeper and farther faster. In order to get the most out of the course, you should expect to put in about two hours of work per week.

You'll receive all the information you need to do your assignments with ease, including relevant templates, assessments, and demos.

Join Laura and other course participants for a Zoom conversation/Q&A each week. This is an excellent way to share time and space with other teachers having similar experiences and to get unstuck from parts of the course that might be more challenging for you.

What will you learn?

Create a more positive and hopeful approach to your career by examining your assumptions and beliefs and learning how to work with the voice of your inner critic.

Build your confidence and self-awareness by identifying your skills and strengths through assessments and feedback from people you trust.

Calibrate your career compass by prioritizing your values, desires, and enjoyment and minimizing external influences.

Discover what else you can do for work through research, conversation, and imagination.

Evaluate your career possibilities for alignment with your strengths, skills, values, and enthusiasm by asking questions, gathering information, and tapping into your intuition.

Set your career goals with concrete next steps to keep you moving forward, either toward more joy and fulfillment in the classroom or toward a new career.

  • How much of my time does the course require?
The more time you put into the course, the more you will get out of it. You can expect to make good progress by investing an average of 1-2 hours per week watching the recorded lessons and doing the assignments and 1 hour per week attending the live weekly calls. That adds up to about 2-3 hours of work a week.
  • Will this course help me find a job?
Yes! If you decide to leave the classroom, this course will help you clarify what career path you want to pursue, which will make your job search SO much easier. However, we will not directly address job search strategies and application materials (cover letters, interviews, resumes). Laura offers that kind of support through 1:1 coaching or can make referrals for other coaches who focus more on this part of your career transition.
  • When are the live weekly calls?
Tuesdays at 5 p.m. Eastern. They are also recorded and shared the day after the calls.
  • What's Laura's background in education?
I have a long history with education, though not only in the classroom. In college, I focused my studies on Spanish and secondary education and then taught briefly at high schools in Chicago and Indiana. I also taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in Venezuela. The rest of my career in education has been focused on creating meaningful learning experiences OUTSIDE of the classroom (e.g. study abroad). I thrive on helping people learn new things about themselves, others, and the world around them, and career coaching has been a natural extension of this.
  • Who benefits most from this course?
If you are a teacher that has considered leaving teaching for another career, this course could be for you. The teachers who will benefit most from the course fall into two categories: 1) You know you want to find alternative work, but you don't know what you want to do instead. 2) You've been wavering back and forth for awhile about whether to continue teaching or leave for another career, and you just can't get any clarity. This course is probably NOT for you if you need a new job and a new income right away. The content prioritizes reflection and exploration (which take time) over the nitty gritties of the job search.
  • Will we cover resumes in this course?
Not directly. This course does not assume that you will leave classroom teaching - some people decide to stay. If you already know you want to leave teaching or you decide to leave as a result of your work in this course, your resume will need attention. But first, you need clarity about what's next, and that's the goal of this particular course. Laura offers resume support through 1:1 coaching or can make referrals for other coaches who focus more on this part of your career transition.
  • Do I get all the course content at once?
No. When you first enroll in the course, you'll get access to the Intro Module: Getting Started. Once the course begins, you'll get access to Module 1: Your Career Narrative. After that, modules are released every two weeks. Once the course is over, you'll have access to all of the modules for 12 months from the start of the course.
  • Are there scholarships or discounts available?
Not currently. The course has been priced with teachers' income in mind.
  • Is the webinar really free?
100% free. You can save your hard-earned dollars for something else!
  • Is the webinar actually live?
Yep! This is not a pretend live scenario. I will be there with you, presenting and interacting with you in the moment.
  • Is it worth attending if I just started having doubts about teaching?
Yes, absolutely. Taking this webinar now will save you time and stress, because you'll start out approaching your questions honestly, thoughtfully, and effectively.
  • Will there be a chance to ask questions during the webinar?
Yes, I will leave time at the end to answer questions that are coming up for you.
  • What happens if I can't make it to the live webinar?
As of right now, the only way you can see the webinar is live. I hope to record it and make it available on my website down the road. If you want to be added to my mailing list to stay up-to-date on this and other news, please email me at with a subject heading of: INTEREST IN RECORDED WEBINAR.
